Default door rattle question....

My drivers side door has just started rattling while Im driving. Sometimes its even enough that the door switch actuates and deactuates turning the inside lights on and off constantly. I can hear the door rattling like its part way open but I open and close it snug and it starts the same thing again after a min or so. I can grab the door while driving and it doesnt seem to be loose but nevertheless it DOES rattle. Any ideas? :blueangel:

Had essentially the same thing happen to my 90.......

I took the door panel off, secured the wiring so it wouldn't flop around and went for a ride. Found out there was a nut for the window mechanism that had worked loose and allowed the whole window to shake inside the door.

First try driving with the window at different up/down positions and intermittently holding the glass so it can't move. It might be the simple case of the felt guides being loose and letting the window move around.

Another thing to check is the hinge, either upper and lower. If they let the door move up and down at the latch you can get a noise there. You didn't say what kind of noise, either rattle, bump, dull thump or what so there isn't too much to go on here.

Its a dull thump sorta sound. It sounds exactly the same as if the door wasnt closed all the way. But it IS and if I pull on the door theres no play like you would expect.

Roll window all the way down. Stand outside car and reach inside the window and attempt to pull up on the door. Does it move?? As stated before, remove door panel and go for a ride to see what goes bump on you. :seeya
