I have a knock on my 87 vette that sounds like a blown rod. However, the engine does not make the noise when its cold. The noise goes away gradually as the engine is revved (it is not noticeable past 1200 RPMs). And if I unplug the spark plug closest to the front of the car on the passenger side, the noise goes away completely. Your help will be EXTREMELY appreciated.
Re: ENGINE NOISE!!! I need help please!!! (teknobudd)
It could still be a rod brearing on its way out. A rod brearing will be nosiey at idle when cold and as pressure builds it will go away ( like when you rev it up a bit. )
Try reving the engine higher, ie between 3 and 4500 rpm gradually. If the noise comes back at any rpm and you can hold it there, making that noise, it is a brearing
Taking the plug out puts less force on the bearing so the noise is less noticable.
Will do! I really appreciate the advice and will be performing the checks you have suggested first thing in the morning tomorrow. I will post my findings shortly thereafter.
BTW: If it does end up being a bearing on its way out....what am I looking at? Engine rebuild? What are my options? Thanks in advance!

Take a stechascope (spell)...put it on where you think the noise is comming from...you can also use a piece of hose...just press it on where you think the noise is comming from...
My own feelings is you don't have any problem...but...whatever you need to do....
just use the hose tech. this really works....
Probably not a big problem....just relax....breath deep...OK??? ok....
