Replacing lost Oval Door Key for 1996 C4
Hi Tech Forum. I just purchased a nice 1996 C4 but recently discovered the owner misplaced the two Oval GM Door keys. In the past, like most people, relied on the
FOB's that work fine. I am curious if I can have a lock smith replace a the door lock key - having the storage lock cylinder to refer too. Is their any information located on the
vehicle (sticker data) from labels posted that I can reorder a replacement oval GM door lock key.
Thanks for suggestions

A good locksmith can make a key from just the lock itself, but may need to have the lock cylinder out. If you don't have the key code, call a locksmith and ask them if they can make a key from the lock without you bringing them the cylinder and if so just bring your car over to them. Here's some good info:

A GM dealer with the VIN can do it 'NO PROBLEM'!! You'll need either current registration or generally an 'insurance certificate' with corresponding personal ID works. They can supply you with the 'mechanical code' for the ignition but it would be an 'interesting' event if you got the resistance code.
