yes I have aftrmarket straight plugs. each tube had to be flattened out some to them on.. Looks like crap!
I haven't researched this, so here's a random thought. Is there a different header part number (any brand) for '84 - '85 models with iron heads?
If so, that's probably an option to look into. If not, the hammer method is the only option out there besides custom built.
Deadman, no problems, drivers come out top side, passenger out the bottom with little jiggling. Take out your spark plugs. And I noticed a little shield on the pass side that looks like I could have removed that for more room.
I have TPIS. No beating. Perfiect fit right out of the box. Excellent access to plugs. I can swap all plugs in less than 1/2 hour from the top.
I don't believe you. It takes me that long for a beer run. Take the plugs out, stretch out, beer run, BS with the hottie clerk at the liquor store, go home and finish the job, disposal of waste material include beer cans, etc
^^^^^^^I have "Melrose Smooth bore long tube headers". Someday my car will run. Headers stopped me dead in my tracks.
On a 1989 the rh inner framerail has the fuel line attached. My new headers TOUCH the fuel line. I am CONFOUNDED for
a solution with this project at over $23k and counting.4 years stalled

Put in AN adapters from under the car near the filter area and just run braided hose from there up to the fuel rail. You can route the lines away from the heat much easier that way.
For $23k, you could have bought several C4s. Hell, I'd even sell you my '89....
