Default Oil Pressure..

Hiya all..I have 2 questions. I've had my 'vette for about a month now ('96 66k mi). This last week I have an issue with the oil pressure dropping enough to cause the check engine light to come on. This only occurs when I'm idle. I've never seen it drop in pressure while I'm driving and it only happens (worse and worse) after the car begins to warm up (I watch the oil temp hit about 195 or so and it starts to drop) Again this only happens when I sit at a red light or a stop sign, etc. When I'm driving, it appears the pressure is normal. I'm told the computer is not stock, but its odd how this 'just started happening' over the last week. The car was still 1k mi from needing an oil change, but we did it any way using the recommended Mobil 1 Synthetic and Mobil 1 filter. Same issue. Personally, I believe I'm cursed and this could only be an oil pump replacement in my near future...Anyone got some ideas??

Question 2..since I do not yet have my owners manual in hand..I had the dealer flush and refill my radiator when I bought it. I can't, for the life of me, recall what coolant they put in it. However, I put some good ole WalMart whatever in it and my brother told me there is a possibility that it may not use 'regular' coolant. Can someone enlighten me as to what I should put in the car for coolant?

Thanks for your time!

I would check the oil sender switch, replace it, if that doesnt fix it then replace the pump. You dont want that pump to go bad on you, then you might have to buy a new motor.

I think GM switched from the standard green coolant to some orange stuff sometime, but dont know much else about it.

I would hook up a external gauge and check the pressure. This will bypass the sending unit and give a direct pressure reading.

If the the pressure is low, suspect the oil pump's by pass valve spring broke.

Doubt the bearings are bad.
