Then leave the button out and push it gently down out of your way. It's fun to watch people struggle to get out with the handle sticking them in the :D

I am fairly certain that all c4 emergency breaks are utter crap and barely keep your car from rolling let alone lock up the rear wheels...it'd be fun if they didnt suck though...heh...my version: roll car about 10 mph, rev it up, cut the wheel dump the clutch...woo hoo!!!

Just to prove I'm not retarded and maybe help someone else out - I fixed my e-brake. The 14 year old grease had caused the ratchet to stick in the open position. A little brake cleaner and some new grease and it works great.

Remove the single bolt and slide the black cover over the handle to reveal the assembly.
Then do as brookman, remove the old grease, relube it and replace the cover.
The handle on my e-brake was a little rusty so while I was in there I sanded and painted the visable portion black to dress it up a little.
