Default 4+3 question

Just a quick question. This winter I'm going to attempt to repair my overdrive as the carrier is making noise, verified by the noise going away while in overdrive. Since everything functions normal and I have no slipping, banging, and clean fluid. Can I get away with just replacing the carrier itself? It would seem from my research that it is on the front end and I should be able to just pull the plate and then replace the bearing but I have no freaking idea how to go about setting the preload and rolling resistance on the bearing. And for all I know the housing is chewed up from driving it like this. It isn't very loud and I can hardly hear it with the top off but I just want everything 100%. Any thoughts? I am going to dig into the FSM tonight and see if there is an assembly picture so I have a better idea.

I remember 5speeds.com having them a while back. I'll have to check again. I will definitely not pull it if I don't have everything in hand. Or maybe I'll talk myself into a tko swap by then lol.
