winters coming fast and even though i finally have my p.o.s. running fairly well, i'm already bored with it. So i'm looking for a project, again. If i wanted to run 10's or low 11's, what do you think i would have to do. I'm always on a budget, so keep this in mind. engine combo, rwhp required, tranny , gears, tires, etc. If someone out there is already doing this , let me know what i have to do. There are a bunch of mustangs around here that are pretty fast, i'd like to even things up.
How fast are you now? I can stomp alot of mustangs with my simple setup. Check my signature.
He's gonna have to spend alot more money than you with an 85. You will basically need all the stuff in my sig+the future 406 than then you still might be a tad shy of 10's.
I will have about 10k in my engine after the 406 shortblock is done. And I did all the work myself to date.
Is that in your budget range? Give us some more info. Like what your car runs now. Street fast and strip fast are two different things.
I really don't know how fast it is right now, the closest strip is 6 hours away in Brainerd MN. from looking at others with similar mods i think id be in the low 12's. give or take. i could be wrong. my car is never going to win any beauty contests, so i might as well take it apart again and make it really fast, as far as my budget goes, i don't know yet, i'm trying to figure out if i can afford it from good people like yourself who have been there
I've been there before with some novas and chevelles over the years, always with big blocks though, i would like to do it in my vette now, maybe a big block is the ticket, have any of you done it this way?
It's a lot easier then you think. Four or more years ago it was expensive. Now simply get your hands on a Z06 crate engine or the composite parts. Add a proCharger supercharger for a C5. Depending on the boost, with proper tuning you will make between 525 and 572 rwhp. No muss, no fuss and your there. Hasn't life become simple if you have the $$$$$$$.
I know if I had it to do all over again I would buy a mitchell Hardcore 427
They crank out ~650 HP and 750 ft/lbs of torque for $10k.
is this a stroked small block, or a big block? I wouldn't mind keeping a small block if its possible and not too expensive,(being a single parent and a starving student again), it's hard enough working on a smallie in such cramped quarters , a big block must be a nightmare.
ps, nice chevelle, a friend of mine has a 10 second '67 beaumont, looks very similar, black on black, tubbed with a 468,glide.
