Pistons showed up! 2 hours later the 5.3 in my Silverado **** the bed with a bad head gasket, maybe cracked heads. Apparently it's common on the 5.3 for cracked heads. Oh joy lol

Nice looking pistons!
That's to bad about the 5.3L in your truck.
I know the feeling, when I was building my corvette's 355 I got it started successfully for the first time and it ran well (which I was happy about) then later that week the LS6 in my CTS-V literally blew up (3 holes in the block, smashed heads etc...)
The highs and lows of car/vehicle ownership!

Congrats on getting the pistons finally, crappy luck with the truck 5.3L. Curious on what year of truck? I've owned two 5.3L silverado, both gen V trucks (direct injection engines) and have zero engine issues.

It's an 04. 186k on it so it's up there. I'm suspecting the heads let go because it's never overheated as long as I've owned it. I'm going to pull a valve cover and check the casting mark on the head. Apparently if it has a certain casting logo it's more prone to cracking.

Gonna start ordering more parts!
I should be able to get away with an Fbody oil pan, right?
Gonna order up the oil pan, intake, headers, motor mounts pretty quick here.

Those engine plates look great pieces, I like ones with different mounting position, as who knows what you will actually need. I reused my stock sbc motor mounts on my swap. Curious on your plans for converting the oil pressure sensor and coolant temp so that your digi dash works? I just reused the stock sbc oil pressure tee/sensors. I run two coolant temperatures, one on my fast digi dash (fast uses it for the coolant fans) and one on an autometer gauge.

You need to get that thing going. Can't wait to see what your car will do.
Here is mine 50-150 vs a stock C6 Z06 the other night.

Mexico's finest. There is a lot of fun to be had on Thursday nights around this part of Mexico. Lots of hopped up 5.0s, 5th/6th Gen Camaros and C5/C6/C7 Corvettes. My car surprises lots of guys as those heavy Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers need 500ish rwhp to get close to my lbs/hp ratio. After a group run the guys are always looking for a nitrous bottle. Haha...

I purchased
Headers that I'm gonna cut up $200
Oil pan $220
Motor mounts $35
LS3 rockers with trunion upgrade $200
Still working a deal on an LS3 intake (with fuel rails and injectors) with NW throttle body. $550
Edit: Just purchased the intake. Coming together now!
Still gotta get the short block rolling. The guy who is going to help me assemble the bottom end is pretty busy this time of year.

Curious if the NW throttle body is by wire or by cable? I'm not 100% sure on which way your going to set-up your car? I think that most drive by-wire setups use the front cam sensor pick-up and you have to install the drive by wire accelerator pedal. I went the drive by cable and re-used my stock accelerator pedal. The by-wire set-up is more complicated by will give you options down the road for the newer transmissions setups.
Good score on getting all those parts.
