Re: Car pulls to left side when harder breaking (corvette90)
the toe alignment can cause this problem, but usually its your brake rotors warped out of shape and slamming the brakes reveals it when normally you might not notice
Re: Car pulls to left side when harder breaking (corvette90)
Right.
Think about it; if the tire is now badly worn so that it has sort of a cone shape that will make alignment difficult (if not impossible) and can cause it to track improperly. This could effect handling as well as braking.
Actually, if the wear is severe I would replace both tires and have that wheel bearing checked before you get it aligned.
My prior thought was that if you put the badly worn tire on the rear you can even it out rather easily with a few hard burnouts.
When I had my Vette aligned I had the slightly cupped fronts swapped with the rears and smoothed em right out. While in Akron, OH I worked for a tire uniformity machine mfg; they would spin a slightly out of round tire and grind off excess rubber to bring it into spec (very much like doing a burnout in the parking lot). Of course you lose some tread life but you make the tire servicable again.
