Default Fuel rail

Hello Everybody

I have a real problem with assembly of the 1985 Corvette. I am putting together the fuel rail. I do not have picture of the fuel rail and the Service Manual does not have a diagram, that I can find of all the parts. I have a tube that hangs on the fuel rail but I cannot tell what it connects to..

Thank you,
Joe

I will get pictures tomorrow. I looked at a view videos on Utube. Interesting that the piece I am talking about was not visible even though the videos removed the fuel rail. Yet I am positive it is either vacuum or water. The tube is curved and about 8 inches in length. It is 3/8" in diameter. It has two clips with holes for the bolts that hold down the fuel rail. I will have pictures tomorrow. Thank you for you help

The tube I am talking about is not in any of the diagrams that are pictured above. Yet the clips on the tube match length and location that would mount to the fuel rail. Driving me crazy. Thank you for the help.

Hello everybody,
First off Happy Holidays i.e. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I own a 1985 that is a rolling wreck, I bought it that way. I am hoping that you can help me with some basic information.
I had some help removing the motor from this car and now putting it back together has raised some issues.
1) the bolts that hold the fuel rail to the intake manifold. Are they 10 mm or Torx.
2) the injectors do they have clips that hold them in place. This cars fuel rail does not seem to have the grove for the clips.
Is there a way I can send you a picture. I am looking for the purpose of a 3/8 diameter tube that looks like it is held in place at the fuel rail. The FSM does not show it.

Thank you
Joe

As you can see the tube is made of the same material as the fuel rail and the tabs that hold that hold it in place are posituioned so that they align with the fuel rail mounting holes.

That's the CRANK CASE VENT PIPE ---Search eBay for a 14080634 for an '85. There's a couple very good images there. Here's one!

I know that my 89 has the clips. But, I do not remember removing the clips from the 85 fuel rail. And I thought that the 90 has a grove for the clip. The 85 does not seem to have a grove.
I know the my 89 uses bolts to hold the fuel rail. But, I cannot find them in the box where all the bolts were placed during the removal of the engine. I am wondering if the torx are the ones that go there.

Thank you for the help.

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I would have thought the bolts were HFH (Hex Flange Head) M8x1.25-35. What is the part # on the injectors you have and are planning to use? Do you know what to do with the vent pipe? Much depends on what you've removed.

You need Joe C or someone with an '85 to 'take over'.

First of all thank you so much for the follow up message.

I think that the HFH got lost in the shuffle. amazing how that can happen. I found the bolts online so I will most probably order them. I do not have the injectors here with me. I have them at the garage. They are 22 lb.
I do not know what to do with the vent pipe. I am removing the egr and pump. Does that matter with respect to the vent pipes.

Thank you
