I finished my dana 36 to 44 conversion last night. I changed the driveshaft, and the torque arm to a 6m and put my auto yoke on the driveshaft. My problem is that now the car will not move...... (ex... I can crank it and put it in any of the gears, and the car will not move)I will say that it seemed to me that it was in a bind while putting it in. Looking from the rear, when I bolted the torque arm to the rearend and the transmission the rearend was not centered, and I had to pry it towards the drivers side and jack up at the same time to get it to line up(batwing mounts), and even then it was very difficult. I am wondering if the driveshaft is binding in the transmission? I did check the driveshaft before I put it in, and it was about a 1/4 in shorter than the automatic shaft. The transmission worked fine a week ago, and it has been sitting in my garage for a week on jackstands. Could something have stuck in the valvebody due to the incline it was at on the jackstands?
BTW: If I bolted the batwing up , and tried to line the holes for the torque arm up, it would only line up with the bottom holes, and that was with a lot of prying.

It was 12:30 last night when I was going to take a test drive, and found that it would not move, so I called it quits. I am going to work on it again tonight.

Perhaps your drivetrain isn't lined up and it's binding (just a guess). When I reinstalled the c-beam I made sure it went into place by hand and all the bolt holes lined up. I used two jacks, one on the trans, one on the diff case. I jacked up the two until the c-beam lined up and the bolts slid in all the way by hand. In the 96 FSM there is an alignment procedure that I followed after I dropped the bolts in.
Re: Dana 44 conversion problems......... (-=Jeff=-)
I pulled the rearend out again, and the driveshaft is too long. Apparently they sent me another auto driveshaft instead of the 6M shaft. It measured 27 1/2 from center of UV to center of UV.

I actually checked that....... I have came to the conclusion that Corvette Salvage sent me the wrong driveshaft. They are going to send me another shaft today. :seeya
