I've been researching scanners and the Actron CP9690 Trilingual obd 1/obd11 Elite Autoscaner seems to have many positive reviews and I like that it can do OBDI and II. The least I see it selling for is $212 on Amazon.
I don't mind paying for quality and that I could use it on all of my OBDII cars is a bonus.
So the question is do any of you have that scanner and if so please give me any positive or negative thoughts. And if anyone thinks there is a different scanner I should include please feel free to voice your thoughts.
I looked at that unit but was unsure of its ability to scan/record live data for OBD-1, which was what I needed.
So I went with the AutoXray Tech Scan SPX AX7000 and am quite pleased with data logging ability on my '88 Vette.
I bought a CP9690 recently. It does scan and record OBD1. I have used it on my 88. There are a couple of items like Knock Count that it does not record. Overall it seems to do a decent job. Make sure you buy the kit that has all of the proper cables with it.

It does seem to include all the cables. Can you tell me if you think it is worth $212 based upon the use you have gotten from yours?
I don't think you can find anything else that does both OBD1 and OBD11 for this price. The only way to do it for less money would be one of the programs that works with a PC or Android phone. Some guys swear by those. Or you could try to find something used. I have only had mine for a couple of weeks so have not had a lot of use with it yet.

If you want to use your own laptop then TunerCat has a data log program for $70 but you still need a ADLC connector/cable - $135 (och but you can build your own). What TunerCat has is a tuning package with cable, chip burner and tuning software for$200. You will also need a definition file for your car - $20.
And they have some pretty neat stuff like the RT tuner for real time tuning while your driving the car. Just wanted to mention TunerCat because they have 30 day free trial on many of their products.
MOATS has plenty of tuning gear also like the Ostrich cable connection for tuning. But I haven't used any MOATS products yet so I don't have much to say about it though it has many are happy customers.
So I guess what I'm saying is if you would like to use your laptop - where you can capture data on spreadsheets - you might want to price out the software and cable connector separately. Also a good idea if you plan on tuning your car in the future.

Doesn't record or doesn't show? Knock counts are kinda important if you want to see if it is knocking, I would think. I have an Auto Xray scanner that does record all that stuff. Or maybe the Snap On MT2500, aka "The Brick"?
If you look at the data in this post there is no recording for Knock Count that I saw. I don't remember seeing it when i was just looking at the view data screen either. I will check again. I know the sensor is working because I also have a MT2500 and it shows up there along with a lot more data that is not on the Actron 9690. There are multiple pages here as i recorded this for about a minute and a half. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...0-scanner.html
