Does anyone have any information on swapping a ZF six speed transmission to a T56 transmission on a 1989 Corvette?

Just curious what you think you are gaining going to the T56?

and if you’re industrious to install a T55, you should be able to fan your own C beam plate to mate up to the T56. It’s been done before.

Hey chumpvette... Please correct me if I'm wrong but here's my dilemma. I have a 89 C4 with 142k on it... The dual mass flywheel starts to knock when the car gets warm... I suspect that the flywheel is getting warn out... From my understanding I can't get a replacement flywheel anymore and I don't want to retro fit the flywheel with non dual mass flywheel .I heard that the ZF transmission will start making noise if retro fit the non dual mass flywheel... So I'm just exploring my options. The other option is to switch to automatic which I don't really want to do.

They both can rattle at idle in neutral. With the ZF the DM flywheel was to reduce noise. With the T56 it became a characteristic. It doesn't hurt anything, It's partially set up by reducing internal friction within engine.

Okay thanks for the information... This makes me a little more comfortable with the rattle... I think I'll live with it.
