Pennsylvania has pending legislation as well as the Federal Government on Day Time Running Lights (DRTLs). Dave Coe will provide the links to make your opinions heard.
I know what you mean; I can always spot a Saturn behind me...two inside headlights on in daylight.
Of course you know the General and other auto mfgs sponsser the drive for manditory DTRLs.
Think of the extra extra revenue from DTRLs and the revenues from headlights that are on all the time.
Remember most safety studys were done in northern Europe and some in Canada where light levels are much lower. And traffic congestion isn't what it is in on our major interstates.
Even now I often flip my inside mirror up to "night" when a SUV is close behind me; how much more glare would there be if all vehicles had headlights on all the time.
I have to agree....see too many new cars with one of the DTRL burned out already.Looks funny too...they dont bother me much during the daytime but I usually think theres a funeral going on or something..lol...If anything, they should keep DTRL as small yellow parking lights that wont hit the eyes hard on the cars that use DTRL's.
:)
Right you are about them being a good thing in the northern climes! :yesnod: In some of the remote areas, where we can really open up, they are lifesavers.
