1989 Corvette exhaust tube
I'm going to remove the valve covers on my '89 to refinish. The passenger side has a tube that runs from the exhaust manifold to the intake. There's also a sensor in the tube. The smog pump has been removed and a delete kit installed. So the question is can I remove the tube and cap the intake and exhaust manifold and remove the sensor without any problems?

I have removed that sensor from my car, blocked off the tubes into the exhaust and the entrance to the intake. So far the car has not been out for a street test but it performs fine and no check engine light yet. Looking at the possible codes I do not see which code it might throw. It'll be a couple months before I can drive it to confirm there are no problems through the entire cycle of engine use.

That is EGR, its not related to the AIR pump.
You can take it off and use blockoff plate on the intake side, and weld it shut on the exhaust side or use headers that don't have it.
You will then either need to do the diode trick on the EGR solenoid, or just program the Code 32 out of the chip, or just ignore the SES light, since the EGR only really functions on part-throttle cruise conditions such as long highway trips.
