Ok, What I was thinking. I'm doing a tune up this weekend. New plugs, wires and Dist. I'm also considering adding a couple of items. I just would like some feedback on the effectiveness of these additions.

1. Open up air filter box so the K&N can breath
2. Add this coupler to the intake.

3. Add this Airfoil

Do these work or would I be wasting my time and money?

Thanks.

I did the air foil, did not notice anything but maybe throttle response. Opened up the filter box you scan see some pics here how I did mine. Coolant bypass at throttle body and air pump delete. New wires, distributor and plugs for a good time. I needed whole dist. All the wires and guts where shot from age and heat. Cheaper to buy whole unit instead of just parts.

Open up the air lid, yes. Not going to hurt.

Smooth coupler, no.

Air foil, no.

L98 cars respond to exhaust changes greatly, concentrate there first. If you can do intake porting yourself, then do that too.

Please describe this mod and what effect it had if any. I have a 1996 LT1 in California, would this benefit me and still pass smog?

Someone has some issues with air foils

Buy a used Air Foil, you may pick up a Hp or 2. Big thing here is while you have your intake piping off give the throttle body , IAC, and the IAC housing and passage ways a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner. The air box mod has been tested and doesn't do much, but won't hurt. Same thing for the coupler. You could use the coupler as a base, wrap in fiberglass, body filler it, sand, and paint to match your car. Would look sweet. Opening the air box will mainly be so you hear a sound when the throttle initially opens.

All the things you mentioned may help, but they do so little that you may not feel a difference.

If you do the air foil make sure to use thread locker on the screw. It has been known to come out and then it goes into the intake and a cylinder with catastrophic engine failure (grenade). I have used one and it does do something since I found it took the computer program out of normal ranges. I replaced the computer chip and it then did not cause a problem, but I couldn't feel the difference.

On my L98 cars I found more results from exhaust than most other changes like stated in a post above.

Good luck
