Hi guys and gals, Haven't checked in for while -- guess my Vette's been running well...except....
I keep setting a code 16 "Left Front Sensor Fault". I assumed this was the old "1990 INFL REST grounding problem". I've cleaned and reinstalled the sensor three times using dielectric grease, but I reset the code within 100 miles. Now I assume the sensor must be bad. But before I replace it (where in the world do I buy a new sensor?) I want to test it. Can I remove the sensor and have it tested off the car by a Chevy dealer? Could it just be a lose connection to the DERM? Any help or experience is appreciated. Until then, I'll just keep the piece of electrical tape over the INFL REST light!
Re: Air bag: left front discriminating sensor problem (Vette73)
Try cleaning it again and sand the frame under the sensor, down to bare metal and use new bolts with lock washers and reset. Also sand down the metal tabs on the sensors. Spray electrical contact cleaner into all of the airbag connections, located on the yellow wires.
