I just bought a new superram and 219 cam for my 355 auto car. My question is what should I install the intake centerline at? The cam did not come with any instructions and I am debating between 108 centerline and 112 centerline. Where did everyone else intall their cam?
i'd say 108 sounds better, someone has to have a cam card on that thing though. ask scorp he has one on his engine & should know off the top of his head.
Scorp, when you install the cam straight up where is the intake centerline located at? I am installing the cam with a degree wheel and straight up does not mean anything. Since the cam has 112 degrees of lobe seperation my thought would be that straight up is 112 intake centerline but then you said the cam has 4 degrees of advance ground into it. Does that mean I should have the intake centerline located at 108 degrees? I can move the intake centerline to any position.
W/ the chain stretch already ground into the cam, that is saying install me straight up.
Now if you wanna move it around because you think there is better power else where, well, that's your call.
Getting a cam card is a simple phone call.
Scorp, i gotta disagree. I installed mine straight up at 112deg. I don't believe there is 4 deg advance grinded into it.
To the original poster, i'd go straight up. Advancing it will give you more torque, but you don't need it with LTRs or SR. Retarding will give you more top end HP, which would probably be a good idea on a larger cube engine.
