I purchased a meziere pump a few months ago from a forum member. I was thinking about installing it soon. My question is, does anyone know of a reason not to use a factory fan relay to run the pump? I have seen the ones in Ecklers that are designed to convert from the old style fan relay to the new style. They give you the connectors, bracket etc. I thought it would look a little more stock with this type of relay. I just didnt know if the amp draw would be greater on the pump and be to much for the relay. Thanks for your help!!
That would work fine. The HD Meziere pulls 8 amps.
Just a caution. I know of 2 cars that had a problem with the inline fuse holder melting and causing an open circuit. Either be sure you locate it someplace nice and cool or cut it out and put another fuse farther away.
I put an automotive fuse holder by the battery where I connected the power line, no problems with it there after ~15K miles. I did have a relay (not the GM part) go bad.

You should only use the factory fan relay to power your own relay, which is connected directly to the battery. You don't want to power the pump itself off the fan relay.
John, the pump I purchased came mounted to a LT1 pump. It has never been installed. I dont know if it is the HD or standard. Thanks for the advise on the fuse as well!!

I want to use a seperate fan style relay to run the pump. I will run power from a direct source and not through the existing fan relay. I just figured the fan relay would look a little more factory, and they are pretty dependable. I was concerned with the amp draw of the pump being to much for the fan style relay. Thanks for your advice!!
