Default D36 to D44 in a 94 A4

I'm thinking of doing the D44 instead of rebuilding the D36 with the 3.54 gears. My D36 needs new wheel bearings, and with the cost of the gears thrown in, I figure I may be able to get a D44 with the stock 3.42 gears for roughly about the same(or higher).
I know some of y'all have done this, so here are my questions: What driveshaft do I use? And of course, where's the best/cheapest place to order a used D44 from?
Thanks for the help!

Eric, when I was shopping about a year and a half ago, Contempory Corvette was getting $1400.00 for the parts to convert. This was with a 3.45 gear.

Eric, give Ron a call at Contemporary Corvette 1-800-367-8388, he gets Dana 44's in and they go out just as fast, they are a hot item. His price is $1400 for the carrier, the cover, the driveshaft and the driveline support.

I got one from him back in May, 40,000 miles from a '94 six speed.

After shopping around, you'll find that $1400 isn't that bad of a price.

JD, thanks for the link, it helped. Mr. Mojo, thanks for the info, I will call.
I have another question now...do you get the 6 speed drive shaft, and how/what do you do to it to use it with the 4L60E?
Thanks again. :seeya

Yes, you get the 6 speed driveshaft, but you'll have to change the yoke, or at least I did, but mine's a '93.
