Default Driveline question

I have a question about the driveline on C4 Vettes and my 87 coupe in particular. I'm wondering just how fragile the rear ends and transmissions are. Mine is a stock (for now) L98 350, with a 4+3 DN tranny and a D44 rearend. I'd like to do some occasional drag racing with it if it will stand up to it. What say you all??

No problem stock, when you mod for a lot more h/p you may need to upgrade to a ZF6 speed manual transmission.

While I don’t have any more than stock, there are plenty of examples where the stock 4+3 has heaps of hp. The trick as I e read it is not to shift the OS under wot. And clutch shift it.

Other than 84, Manuals come with D44 8.5" it will take alot. With street tires most of the time tires will spin preventing breakage.

I have dozens of passes on my '86L about half on the 4+3 and the rest on the T56. All of them on the D44. I agree with the above, the 4 speed
section of the 4+3 is pretty darn tough. You won't be using the OD at the drag strip so you should be good. Go have some fun.
