My passenger side door does this too; like its trying to lock but can't. Usually if I hold the switch long enough, it will lock, but it is annoying and I wish they would just both lock at the same time. Keep us posted if you find a solution.
Take the Door panels off and see how the connector rods work with the door lock actuators ... grease up or wd 40 all the moving parts and joint ends to the whole moving mechanisms on both sides ....
If after a good greasing the problem still persists ...
The Driver actuator which is the main one may be going out on you slowly but surely and since it controls the other side it affects the movement distance on the other side as well since they move in together in parallel.
If the actuators in a vette are a reverse polarity scheme I may be able to help in getting a universal one that fits and instruct on installing them.
9 years of being a car audio specialist payed off :D
Just can't remember replacing to many on a vette ...
Mustangs are a different story .. I've replaced literally Hundreds of them!!
I can't give you anything technical, but I can tell you this.. my driver side was doing the same thing when I bought the car. I took the door panel off to inspect a wiper switch that I suspected of being faulty, and I took great care to make sure everything was lined up perfectly when I put the door back on. It works great now.
