Ok, so my passenger door shuts perfect every time. Sounds very nice and tight. The drivers, on the other hand, doesn't shut properly without some force. If i don't use enough force, it will stick out about a half inch but will be latched. My '94 did the same, so I'm SURE that lots of you guys have the same issue with yours. How can i fix this? I have to take my car in for the waterpump to be replaced (under warranty :) ) on monday, so I'm thinking i might see if they can look at that.
If you are bringing your car in for warranty work...go talk to the guy in the body shop. He can most likely do an adjustment in 2 minutes flat. On the other hand, if you do it and start screwing with the latches and hindges. You can be there for days, and maybe even chip a corner of the door. The guys in the body shop know exactly where to loosen, lift, push and bolt.
Mine started to do this after making window adjustments to try to get the windows to seal properly. I think what happened is that the glass too tight against the weatherstrip at the front corner (where the roof meets the windshield pillar) Try closing your door tightly with a dollar bill stuck between the glass and the weatherstrip. If it won't pull out, maybe it is the glass adjustment.
I think this is what is wrong with mine. My weather stripping at this point is worn out worse than in other areas. I know my hinge pins aren't worn out. Thanks for the info.....
I have a similar problem on the passengers side. Usually when it doesn't close all the way it's because the glass is caught on the weatherstripping. I would test by seeing if you have the same problem closing the door with the window down. If not, then I would say it's probably a glass adjustment. :yesnod:
