Car cranks beautifully, I pulled the wire with a plug in it and checked it(while grounding it) to see if I was even getting spark. I'm not. I took off the front and rear bumper to convert later c4 style. Is there something I could have disconn. or something I can do to get spark? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem on my '86 right now, but it is intermittent. I have done some research in my GM shop manual and have found the section that shows how to troubleshoot the HEI system. I was going to tear into it this weekend. I have my shop manual with me here at work, if you e-mail me a fax number by 4:00 AZ time I will fax you the 3 pages you need to diagnose "no spark". E-mail is shannon@ericksoncompanies.com

Are the plugs wet (getting fuel). Could be a bad module or coil also. Mine did this and left me stranded. I replaced the module to no avail. Turned out to be a bad coil.

I don't know about the wires. If it worked before, I doubt it. I have the troubleshooting check list in front of me and it seems there are some things I can suggest:
1. Disconnect 4 terminal EST connector (pass side, near A/C blower motor) and check for spark. If spark, replace pick-up coil.
2. If no spark, check voltage at dist "bat" terminal while cranking.
If under 7 volts: repair primary circut to ignition switch
If over 7 volts: with ignition on, check voltage at "tach" terminal
3. If under 1 volt, repair faulty coil connection ore replace ign coil
If from 1 to 10 volts, replace module and check for spark. If no spark, replace ign coil, it too is faulty.
If over 10 volts, check for spark at coil output terminal with spark tester while cranking.
4. If spark, check color match of pick up coil connector and ign coil lead. Inspect cap for water, cracks, etc. If OK, replace rotor.
