My digital readout says all is well. Car does not seem hot.
Analog gage says temp is close to 260.
I am planning to replace the analog temp sensor. Where is this one located? How do I identify it to the parts guy? How much of a bitch will this job be?
If your LT4 temp sensor is the same as the LT1: the analog coolant temp gauge uses the info from the sending unit located between the #6 and #8 spark plugs on the passenger side cylinder head. It is a single wire sending unit and uses the head as the ground.
I wouldn't be concerned about the analog gage. If replacing, the gage is readily accessible, and reasonably priced.

Changed it. Running 224 digital. 260 analog. 45 degree ambient air temp .
Digital temp reached 230. Both fans came on . Digital temp is now 220.
Analog gage fluxuating between last two marks on gage.
Car idling with hood open.
Note. Thermostat changed last year. 5000 miles ago.

I'm going off memory, but I seem to recall the display and analog gauge is driven by the same output form the ECM. Also the analog gauges in these cars are stupidly inaccurate too the point of being completely embarrassing for a car that is GM's flag sports car! GM gave in to car magazines at the time whining about the digital dashboard in earlier models so they came up with these stupid analog gauges that make no-sense most of the time! I never use them, I just cycle through the digital display.
If I remember I'll try to check the wiring schematic in FSM when I'm home. To me it sounds like the digital display is accurate, fans are designed to come on between 225-230.
