Just completed my new Ceramic coated Hooker super comp long tubes model 2151. I must say. These headers fit extremely well. Very easy install. Still have to tidy up plug wires and Tie in to my new Borla cat back system. I am amazed as ease of spark plug access compared to the cheap shorties I had on there. Also so much more room everywhere especially with cats gone. So glad I made the jump to these. Couple pics. Old exhaust removed

yea, they held up with the old cheap shorties. probably not needed now with the new headers between much more room and ceramic coating.. they are just cheap ebay. and wires underneath had no damaged.
If LT's exist for an application, I never see a reason to install shorty headers lol I would rather leave the stock manifolds on than install shorty headers. Not worth the hassle.
Installing the shorties was not for performance gains purposes, During stall converter install required dropping exhaust. All 6 studs on manifold's and 3 on converter flange on driver's side snapped off. They were corroded to the point there were no threads. Therefore installing shorty headers was the much less hassle option to fix and get car back together. Why nit just do LT at that time? Shorty's $200. Long tubes $920. Both sets of headers were very easy to install. At the time the budget was gear and converter, my car will always be a work in progress. Each winter brings new project. To your point I totally agree. If project is headers, don't waste time on shorties. However car dynoed at 268whp with just the Shorty's and modified air box. Which is about 14hp over average for stock 93LT1. Fluke?airbox? Shorty's?
Mamba I've been following your header decision/install threads and LTs are one of the final parts I need in my build. I was targeting Melrose or TPiS (don't see LT1 headers on their site anymore??), but these Hookers look and sound like they should be in consideration. I asked this question in another thread but received no answer. I guess this is about internal ceramic coating, not so much brand, but it is concerning to me...
From my other thread: This is something new to me. So if I'm reading it right, I have to put back my old exhaust system (manifolds, cats, rest of exhaust), break in THEN uninstall manifolds/cats and install headers....what a PITA!
When the motor is done and the headers are in I want to DRIVE the damn car, not take it apart AGAIN
From Hooker's website:
Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers during your engine break-in period to avoid damaging your coated damage. Please call Hooker tech service at 270-781-9741 for additional information regarding ceramic coated exhaust products. The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture build-up. Hooker does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty. Hooker long tube headers do not come with header reducers.
very nice, i plan on doing the same header this summer if my wallet agree's. thanks for the good pics. i was wondering how well they would fit and work
