Default Window regulator

I am trying to replace the window regulators in my 84. I have read the shop manual and everything I could access but have been unable to find how to successfully remove the window itself. According to the manual once you have taken off the window regulator to window nuts the window is supposed to just lift out of the top of the door. They do not address the fact that the studs that go thru the window are too long to release from the plastic bracket that attaches the window to the regulator. Please give me some guidance on how to accomplish this. Thanks.

You don't need to remove the window glass from the door before removing the regulator. Use two "C" clamps (padded with something to prevent metal-to-glass contact) to hold the window up after you remove the three nuts from the window brackets.

That's how I did mine. There is enough room to get it out without removing the window as long as you put it up.
