Default Opinions on mufflers

Looking for opinions on mufflers. I just bought a 96 LT4 and it came with muffler eliminator pipes. The car runs great, but is very loud; the cops can hear me coming for miles. The rest of the exhaust is standard. Any recommendations on mufflers (cost is a major factor, still paying off car) that would quiet it down a little, without losing much performance. :seeya

Corsa is the best all-around. Quiet at cruise, but screams when you get on it.
Kinda expensive though.

The rest, Flowmaster, B&B, Borla have resonance problems and can be quite loud. Power effects is adjustable, but also expensive.

I learned it's cheaper in the long run to do a cat-back replacement. Then you can do it yourself and not cut up the factory pipes. I vote Corsa. (I own a roadster and wanted the quiet at cruising speeds).

I believe Speed Demon(forum vendor) is having a blow out sale on the Corsa, something like $750, well worth it.

I need to get a Corsa system and swap my 2.59 diff for a 3.07... that's a great 1/4 ET there Drewdog. My 'vert would prolly still be slower though... 'verts pay a penalty for all the top-down fun in the sun.

Went from stock to eliminators to Corsas on my '94.

Loved the sound of the eliminators but my favorite co-pilot (wife) didn't. So I invested in the Corsas. They have really been perfect ... quiet at idle & cruise and really screaming at WOT. The deal mentioned is one of the best prices you will ever find for Corsas. BTW, they are really easy to install. I did mine in just a few hours with no assistance.

Another option.

Good USED set of stock mufflers (gasp), like posted above, cat back.

While back replaced my Y pipe, pre cats, cat converter, $750 worth of GM parts (with the discount), well, swap meet, $50. Oh, no sales tax. They looked new.

Just bet some Forum member will be dropping the stocks.

With the savings, you can buy a Snap On scanner (OK, used Snap On scanner)

Keep the greasy side down.

I still have the stock mufflers from my '94 just gathering dust in the attic. Stocks are just about the quietest you can go & still maintain decent performance. Don't know if '94 mufflers are the same as for '96 but if they are and you're interested, give me a shout. I get into Atlanta at least once a month & can throw them in the back of the truck (save shipping)

How about the Magnaflows, or the Dynomax SS Ultraflows? They both come in sizes that are just right for your car.
