The horn on my '86 won't shut off. It was just sitting in the driveway and the horn beeped on its own. I assumed it was the alarm. I followed the manual and unlocked the door with the key to no avail. The car started up and ran, but the horn didn't stop. I finally disconnected the battery. Can someone help? Thanks.
Id check the horn switch for obvious problems at this point while monitoring voltage at the horn connector. If not found, disconnect the switch entirely. If it still gets power, pull the fuse. If it still gets power, you have a short you need to find.
I don't know if an 86 has a relay or not...something also to check?
Your horn button can be carefully pried off your steering wheel with a flat blade screw driver under the bottom ring, then unplug the connecting wire. If this solves the problem, your horn button can be disassembled.
Thank you...so I checked the terminals at the relay. The two terminals closest to the center of the car have a ground. Does that mean the horn is shorted? Unplugging the horn removes the ground at the terminal closest to the windshield
Looks to be likely a C5 (*maybe) under-hood unit. For sure not C4. Posted to the wrong generation forum?
My bad on the plug I'll have to try it in the morning. As well as pressing the horn.
Right now tester connected to battery positive both 86 and 87 have a ground. If I hook to negative 85 and 30 have power. The issue is I can't take it anywhere because it's not inspect so, I have got to figure it out
