Sorry all, I know this is long... but I need to get this off my shoulders. Yesterday I was passing a slow semi-truck in second gear when my tranny did the weirdest thing, it started searching thru gears then locked out all gears, but found that I could still drive in neutral (but as second gear)??? Now this is a 4+3 speed which makes it more unusual. I can put it in reverse but it won't do anything, 1, 2, & 3 are locked out, 4th gear doesn't do anything and the car drives as in second gear while in the neutral position. At least the clutch works.
Now what really pisses me off is that a few months ago I took the tranny to a transmission shop to check it out (even though I had no problems), but I thought it's best to be safe than sorry. The mechanic told me I needed to have a shaft and couple of things in the OD replaced which came up to $1200, and since then the tranny has been operating in a peculiar way. I've been trying to have the shop take a look a couple of times but they seemed too overwelmed with work.
Fortunately I have 2 weeks left in the warrenty and I'm hoping when I talk to them tomorrow they won't try to suck anymore money from me or say that it wasn't their faulty work that has caused this. If so... I plan on warning people of this company.
