It can, the fuel breaks dowm with age and becomes "gummy", varnish, and deposits can effect spray pattern. Many times better quality fuel cleaners will correct condition. Avoid using old stale fuel, it normally causes trouble regardless of type of engine.

How old? 2 months, probably not. I think the issue is when you let it sit and form deposits. If it is used a lot, there will be LESS deposits but still will have deposits. My before and after results of cleaning and testing so far has found deposits. If it flows 250 before and 280 after, something changed to allow more flow.
