Just want to be sure. Dumps under the SMC floor, there would be alot of heat, IMO not advisable for a street driven car. Muffler eliminators with and without straight pipes. Chambered exhaust. It depends on how loud you want to be.

awe wasn’t aware of the potential heat damage. Wouldn’t the heat just hit the ground or is it not that simple?
The cat gets way hotter than any of the exhaust gases get... I wouldn't worry about it melting anything so long as they turn down... there was a kid on YouTube who did it but used glass packs too....
You should be ok...your hearings gonna suffer though!
A few months back I put true duals with turn downs dumped before the axle of my daily(4th gen fbody) and surprisingly it’s not as loud as I thought it would be.

if I follow through I’d skip the cats and wouldn’t even consider glass packs.
Any exhaust turn down before the rear axle could let exhaust fumes rise up around your cabin area, especially while idling at a traffic light. Better have your windows rolled up when stuck at those long traffic lights.
Be careful with that one. Law says that the exhaust needs to extend 1" outside/beyond the cabin of the car...just for that reason.
383 uses dumps/turn downs...but that's on a strip only car. '84's had turn downs!
dont exactly care what the law says as none of my vehicles even have a state inspection. Yes on the fumes though-nothing bad but my clothes do get a slight fuel smell.
