Steve,
With a 36.5mm offset (ZR-1) you will be able to fit a 315/35R-17 more or less flush with a 17X11" rim. 335's are pushing the limit, really. You can see by this shot that they fit well with a 1/2 degree of negative camber:

Bill I have a set of ZR-1 wheels and tires off my 91 ZR-1. Are you saying they will bolt up to the 84's and 85's without the use of adapters? 84 CF 91 ZR-1

Thanks for the feedback everyone. My decision now is to either fit the 315's, or wait until I do the bodykit and go 335......any drawbacks to the larger size?
I've been wondering about this thought. Bigger tires, more surface area, more traction. Yet what about the moment of inertia of the tire? It takes more energy to move them big ole' meats as opposed to a smaller tire. The question becomes how negligible is the moment of inertia as compared to traction gain? This is probably one of the reasons true slicks compress somewhat off the launch - it eases the moment of inertia of the tire. I have the stock rims in the garage, and I need tires anyway. In spring I'll try track comparisons and see if there is a noticeable difference. They will be different make tires though, so that has to be considered, along with difference in size of the tires. :seeya

Anyone know if 285/35/19 will fit on 1985 corvette?
It's about an inch too tall. You can fit it with the proper width/offset wheel, but it will look a little strange and raise the CG and roll center. So...not ideal.
