Default Cheapest, easiest way to program LT1 PCM?

The Mrs. wants the fan temps lowered in her 94. Does not want to change anything else. No performance tuning whatsoever.

Just the fan temps.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this without going all in on a performance tuning package?

I can do it for you, but I'm in Maryland. You can order a program called Tunercat, where you can change many settings in the PCM. I know you just want fan temps, but once you see everything in there, you may get carried away. If you wanted, and its not a daily driver, you could remove your PCM (pretty easy), ship it to me, I can hook it up in one of my 2 94's and make the adjustments, and I can send it back to you. But I'm sure someone closer will chime in.

This would be the least expensive

Its a reflash so it will cost the same whether 1 change or a bunch. Lower temperature will lead to hearing cooling fan on all the time in town. A 160 thermostat would be a better place to start.

Appreciate the offer very much.

Dunno what route we'll go, but I thank you for offering to help!

As stated, a 160 degree thermostat will help, but the fans should be programmed to come on sooner with it. I have 160 stats in both of mine, and I have lowered the fan temps a bit. I know the first one comes on at about 224 degrees at the factory setting, for emissions purposes, but I like to run a bit cooler. As far as hearing the fans on around town, my one car is a supercharged 383, with ARH headers and 3 inch exhaust. I couldn't hear if there was a heavy metal concert under my hood, let alone hear the fans

I use something similar to this unit below. Mine is a lot older so different generation but the same principal. It is simple and easily adjustable.

You can also do it yourself.

Look at the hardware from Moates.net ($80) which allows you to connect to your car. Then there are several free or relatively low cost software like TunerPro RT, Tunercat, or others.

Once you get these you can make the changes yourself to many parameters in the computer. Plus you can do it again and again as you want to whenever you try something new.

Good luck.

That's probably what we'll end up doing. She called them yesterday and they're out of stock till the end of the month on the cable she needs.

She knows I modded mine and doesn't feel nervous driving it in traffic. Being an LT1, her car gets really hot, really fast, at a crawl.

Until you do the mods, just tell her to turn on the A/C. That will force the fans on. That is what I do with mine when the weather is warmer and we are stopped/creeping. On the converse, if she is driving it and it is cooler outside and this happens, tell her to crack the windows and crank up the heat. We were stuck on (275/675 ?? ie: the bypass) when I was bringing it home from Dayton when I bought it. It was hot and the temps were going up, the heater trick kept it cool enough. At that time I didn't know the A/C would force them on.

I will be changing mine also, with a thermostat and to just kick the fans on at 210 / 215 instead of 219 / 228, which is where it is set from the factory (at least my 96 is). I of course, have to use the Jet interface, but if you get the software, you should see a table such as this: (I found if you click on the pic it will expand it enough to see better).

Take note the temps are in Celsius

Make sure you talk to them about which one you need. Their website shows '95 LT1 different from '94. I think that is true for the Camaros, but I think the '94 Corvette uses the OBD2 style connector not the OBD1. So I think your '94 will be the same as the '95 version (OBD1 computer with OBD2 connector) even though that is not what their web site shows.

Talk to them and make sure you get the right one for your car.

Good luck.
