Im putting together a 383 LT4/T56 to replace the LT1/auto in my 95. I have already accumulated most of the parts and it juat now occured to me that the coil brackets I used on previous swaps (EFI connection) wont work unless I use stamped valve covers, which I'd rather not do.
Im looking for valve cover mounted coils, D585's. What have you guys been running? Im half considering gabbing up a set, but wanting to see what's out there.
While I know they work, im looking for something more OEM like...the torqhead coil cover doesnt do it for me. I will be using an EFI tone ring and front mounted cam sensor under a 96+ timing cover with the torqhead harness and PCM to keep the cluster 100% functional.
I used the coils and fuel rail covers from Torqhead. I attached the coils to the covers since they wont fit lower down, or block the oil fill. I wasn't a fan of how they mounted on top of the intake either.
Are those the torqhead brackets? Happen to have a close up picture? Thats pretty much what im trying to do, minus the cover. I want to use the stock covers. Where does that bracket attach?
They are the coils and fuel rail covers from Torqhead. Because of the wiper and alternator on the driver side you cant bolt them to the valve cover bolts, there is not enough room. The pass side needs to be higher to clear the oil fill. I drilled 2 holes on the bottom of the metal fuel injector covers and mounted the coils to them. The covers bolt to the intake using the fuel rail mounting bolts. They are pretty sturdy there.I don't have more pics but can take some.
