I have a 95 C4 that has a rebuilt transmission. Tranny built like that in a ZR1. So it has extra and heavier clutches if I am understanding. At same time down new Headers were added. Here’s my concern. Soon after hubby took tranny out he had head injury and had memory issues. It took about 21/2 yrs to put back on road and I am just not liking how it drives. Horrible mileage, power seemed to wax and wane overall driving was erratic. So The above mentioned was done at same times as was...he removed & bypassed some emissions stuff. Needless to say I parked it and want to get it running at best before driving more.
Where do I start?? do I get a programmer and if so what’s your recommendation? And or do I have chip flashed and reprogrammed and if so how and where?.
Any advise and help greatly appreciated. It’s a very sore subject and I am lost and wanting it done right.
Thanks
Programming is a reflash no replaceable chip. It would be best for car to go to dyno tuner. Transmission rebuild by itself should not effect how the engine runs. There are several important ground wires that attach to a studded bolt that holds bell housing to block.
Checking for codes would be a start. 2-3 year old fuel is normally stale and can cause rough operation unless drained or run out and a couple "fill ups". Vacuum hoses can deteriorate while car just sits. Maintenance Tune Up - plugs, wires, and filters would be worthwhile, it not done already. Your ZIP code could help member suggest local resources. It's car show, car cruise, & Cars & Coffee season so Corvette, Camaro, & Firebird owners may also have suggestions.
