My 1986 C4 (130K) standard got stuck in reverse when I forgot to turn the key all the way to run before shifting to neutral. It happened once before but that time got it to pop back where it belonged ...no luck this time any ideas? I believe it's shifter interlock related....

you're say the car when running won't come out of gear?
So here's the whole story - while driving home in January from a funeral I shifted 1, 2 then went for 3rd found no-body home for 3 or 4 and no detent feel either so parked it till could look at it. Two weekends later put it up on ramps (not high enough to really work on it) so after wrestling the hog-ring style retainer off and the shift arm out of the lever at the cover the lever just free spun so the cover had to come off. next weekend pulled the shifter asmb. part way out disconnected all the shifter arms to get the cover off found 3 - 4 shift cam broken after 33 years and 130k. Having a spare 4 + 3 with a recent rebuild swapped shift covers a new gasket fresh gear lube and I was on the road again until this past Saturday when it got hung up in reverse and neutral...so today 6/9 retraced my steps to shiftr reassembly and found...doh I left the forward anchor bolt on the floor under the seat. Once I installed it the interlock collar came up all the way and allowed the gate to open to 1 - 2 neutral...
