Where can I order a set of GEARS ( Not the entire differentail ). I'm going to be staying with my Dana 36 but would like 3.73's or 3.75's to be installed over the winter. If anyone can chime in to help thatd be great! Also what ways can a Dana 36 be made stronger? What are the prices for a Gear change ( gears themselves not installation ). Are the gears themselves Ring & Pinions?
talk to aqua metalic here on the forum, he's opening a shop soon & has great prices and access on gears & would probably rebuild your entire pumpkin for you if need be.
Depends on the rear end. I have found the Dana 44 rear to be cheaper to get parts for. Try Toms Differentials on the net. http://www.tomsdifferentials.com. He's a pretty sharp guy and his prices are reasonable. Try Randys ring and pinion also http://www.diferentials.com. They are not as knowlegeable as Tom with vettes but their prices and parts are good.
As far as making the 36 stronger, there is a HD carrier that you can add. Zip and Ickerds both sell it. Basicially what it does is, it has plates welded in that put pressure on the bearing caps to help prevent them from moving. This already comes on a 44 but did not come on a 36. I think it sells for around $300.00 exchange.
