Default Question

Hello everyone. I’m a new corvette owner with a 1991 and I have an issue that I’m looking for some ideas on. If I accelerate normally on the highway everything is fine but if I do a hard acceleration to pass or meet speed of traffic the rpm tops out and won’t go. If I take it easy, it gets up to speed with no problems. The injectors were replaced recently but wondering if this might be a transmission issue??? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Check fuel pressure at the Schrader and test exhaust temp before & after each cat.
Also, check to see if any stored codes.

If the engine starts gaining a lot of rpm but you arent going anywhere id have your trans checked. What does the fluid on the dipstick look like?

Clogged cats will do that. I'm with 65Z01 to check the exhaust temperatures.

I am going to suggest that the problem sounds very much like a catalytic converter that is "partially plugged up". The external temperatures of the Catalytic converters should show you soon enough.

Another test is to remove the O2 sensor and see if there is a lot of back pressure coming out the opening instead of going out the back through the catalytic converter. If you get a lot of pressure coming out the O2 sensor hole then you would know that there is a blockage likely in the catalytic.

Had an experience with a German car that plugged up, it would go 25 mph IF you had the time. I am using an aftermarket catalytic from Summit on my 1988 Coupe, a lot cheaper than the stock one.

Best Regards,
Chris

I'll toss this out there due to a recent post and my own experience long ago.
Fuel filter, if it has not been changed recently, do it!
Cheap, and it might help.
If not, then no harm other than $10ish
