I know this is a fault in the MAF burnoff circuit but can anything other than a faulty relay cause this? I replaced both relays about 2 months ago. I have a de-screened MAF that has been working fine for years on the car. I have a Wells MAF also but when I use it I get an intermittent code 34.
Vic,
It stumbles as soon as the service engine light comes on. It goes into limp home mode. Sometimes if I continue driving it sometimes goes away. In other cases, if I shut it down wait a minute and restart, it will go away.
I have a Wells MAF that I could put on which I believes eliminates the burnoff functionality by using a resistor of some sort, but I think I need to play with the TPS to make it work because I get an occasional code MAH high voltage code. (I forget if that's 33 or 34)
If you still have the old ecm part#1227165 I would suspect it.When mine went out the symptoms were as you discribed.Apparently the drivers are prone to fail in these old ecms. The new and improved ecm part#is 16198259 Good luck!! :flag
Sailrmon,
That could definitely be it. Although I replaced the ECM about 2 years ago. I haven't gotten a code 36 in awhile, but I got a code 42 yesterday.
