Lost all power to my 89 convertible when I tried to start it.
All the fusible links look good by the battery and the link on the starter.
Where else is there a fusible link that shuts power off
Any ideas?
Long Shot are your Battery Connections good and the battery have a good charge I have seen the Starter go Click and lights go out and a quick Tug on a cable all is well and car starts.
You said the fuse links look good? I have never seen one that was visible?
The actual Fuse Links" are installed as a group on a power block and are major power feeders wires. Look behind the battery.
That being said, a meter is the right tool to read across the link. Need to take the side cover off to access these.
Could be one of these... sounds like it........... I have a cut-out sw.. in my 1989 to eliminate a battery drain, it was installed in line with the Security Systems Fuse link... when open the car is dead as a door nail, because the security systems defaults..... . .
Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it. I've taken a Volt ohm meter to test the fusible links on the power block. They all seemed to be good. Most blown fusible links I've seen melt and you can tell they're bad, but not always. The fusible links I'm discussing are the ones on the power block behind the battery. There is also a fusible link on one of the starter terminals. I'm trying to determine which fusible link would cut all power to the vehicle. Thank you again for your help
