Default Short Circuit

I'm trying to determine why the 30 amp breaker that feeds the power door locks and power seats trips soon as its inserted. The circuit is always hot (as it should be), but as I said soon as breaker is inserted it trips. My meter reads 12 volts across the feed to the breaker so at this point I'm assuming it in the wiring for the seats since the locks also have a 15 amp fuse which is fine.

I disconnected the connector under drivers and passenger seats and no change. History is both the locks and power seats worked when I purchased last year. Thinking back the only thing I can think of is one time when I had to jump start it prior to getting a new battery the hot and cold cables on my vehicle providing the jump touch briefly. The seats were already where I wanted them so it was weeks after that incident that I realized the seats didn't work. I do have the FSM books, but reading through it I can't make sense of where to look next.

In my next assumption all that comes to mind is a dead short somewhere. I admit my skill at reading wiring diagrams suck so here I am asking those who have much greater knowledge and ability than me.

It is a 1991 L98 Coupe.

I hope someone here has a good understanding of the wiring system and can point a wiring rookie (dumbass) in the right direction.

Years ago I had a car come though with I believe a similar complaint, I found that the Power lead insulation to the Sport Seat was rubbed through and was shorting on seat track, and this is before the plug.

Thank you ihatebarkingdogs , for providing me with a starting point to resolve the problem. Does that mean power from the 30 amp breaker to the seat motors flows through the center console switches first? That now makes sense as to why unplugging the connectors under the seats didn't get me anywhere. For some reason I was thinking power was flowing the opposite direction. Again, many thanks.

I'm at work so without access to FSM, do you know how long it takes to open up console to get to wire?

Thank you again. I had looked up the wiring diagram in the FSM showing that the power seats and door locks both got power through the 30 amp breaker and did see that the wire that ran to the power seats did have a diode in line, but until you answered my question and talked about the diode I had no clue where I could find it. Hopefully after the weekend I can report success in getting locks and seats working again.
