I have an 84 Corvette that I bought as an incomplete project from someone and swapped the crossfire injected engine for a 383 carbureted engine I had intended to put in a 79 Z28. Anyway, I’ve decided that I will replace the factory dash cluster with Pro Comp gauges and do not want the information center (that module that spits out the codes) but am not an electrical guy. Would anyone have some advice on removing the information center and re-wiring the car?

I installed a set of autometer pro comp gauges in my 86. I bought the panel from vettaid. It is plug and play, no rewiring necessary. You can try to save a few bucks by making your own panel and wiring it all together but it's not worth the trouble. You can just unplug the information center and toss it. No rewiring necessary.
You are removing one of the coolest things about the C4 by taking out the Atari dashboard!
If you are interested there is a guy that works on them for a living and he can have your dashboard working in no time and for a reasonable amount of money.
A replacement with Auto Meter gauges is going to cost about $600 pre wired and set up for a C4 Corvette. Right now on Ebay there is a rebuilt 1984 dashboard for less than $300 and it will work just fine in your car. It is your choice of course but a Corvette with the proper dash will be worth more than one without it.
Mine too was flaky but now works thanks to BATEE.COM. Bryan the owner does amazing work, he is good, fast and reasonable. He can fix your unit or get you one that has been repaired. I rebuilt mine with parts and knowledge from Bryan and while I was at it I fixed the C68 Electronic AC controller and installed new bulbs in my dash that don't make a lot of heat (like the original bulbs did). Now the lights don't flash and the digits are all lit up the same brightness and I don't have to Tap on my dashboard to be able to see my speed.
Good Luck with whichever you choose to do. Just don't get rid of it because it is hard to fix. The resources are out there to help. Check out BATEE.com
