I have been in the market for a Callaway for a while now. Almost pulled the trigger on a beautiful Supernatural a while back. Timing is everything though and it just wasn't the right time. My brain is starting to get the itch for a Callaway again though. In my search I've never really stopped to fully ask what I'm getting myself into.
I know there will be a few rare and expensive parts whether it is a twin turbo car or a Supernatural. Fortunately, I live just a few miles from Callaway's OC offices and have a few great mechanics around as well. So, I'm not overly worried about the ability to service it. That said, I've never actually driven a Callaway and have no idea if there are persistent issues with turbo lag or maintenance, aging aerobody panels, unreliable parts, etc.
Anyone willing to share the ownership experience of what kind of unique issues I can expect?
Thx.
PS...my avatar would be the ideal Callaway, but don't know if that one is for sale and don't think I can afford one of the Speedsters anyway.

The Speedster in your Avatar is not for sale, and went overseas 7 years ago. There is a Black Callaway Speedster available, as a package deal, with a B2K AeroBody Convertible. It's priced accordingly to what the last Speedsters sold for.
The heart of the B2K Twi Turbo cars and the SuperNatural cars, are the Gen1 and Gen2 Small Block Chevrolet engine. Easy to maintain. Nothing tough to find.
Turbo lag is not a big deal due to the 5.7L displacement, but there's definitely a shove, of kick in the back when boost engages. It's addicting. Aging AeroBody panels? Non-issue. Unreliable parts? Non-issue. Most who buy one, generally buy another... and another... Good luck with your search. I am sure others will share their experiences.
FWIW, if you are searching for a car, sometimes best to tap the resources at www.callawayownersgroup.com
Also, there's an owner with an 88 AeroBody convertible which was converted to a ZF6 Speed 25+ years ago. Red/Red.
I wouldn't worry about maintenance issues, the twin turbo cars had a few drivability problems but there are easy fixes on the Callaway website. The supernatural cars are like the standard lt1 cars, in fact the Callaway catalog from 1993 states that if you are the original owner and the engine is in the original car, the engine is covered with a lifetime warranty. So they are pretty much bullet proof.
