ring and pinion change ?
my brother is thinking of buying this dana 44 rear end from a guy to fit it in his 89 but it is the 3.07 version and he wants to change the ring and pinion to make 3.73!! as here in malta nobody changes gears in a dana 44 probably becouse they don`t know what a dana 44 is !!! I talked to my mechanic and he said the I can`t do it becouse I don`t have the wright tools to do !! what tools is needed for the ring and pinion change ?? is special tools needed ??

The only special tool is a dial indicator and a hydraulic press. Other than that...it's all basic mechanic stuff.
Any transmission shop will have a mechanic who can do it with confidence, but if you mechanic says he does not want to do it...do not ask him to...it's not worth a locked up broken rear end on the highway!
