Looking for a good mail order Diff. rebuilder shop for my 93 Dana 36 rear .. I know ZIP and a few others do it trying to help out the small shops .. Thanks
Not exactly local for you, but you might consider Unitrax, Anaheim CA, 1-800-622-4327. They've done good work for me, and for my customers. http://gounitrax.com/

I did the "send in the core, buy the rebuild" thing. If you really need to keep your original components, then I'd give them a call and see what they can do.
I think that all the major Corvette suppliers use them for their services. None of the suppliers do their own differential rebuilds. If I remember correctly, I originally went through Central Corvette for my rebuild and ended up dealing directly with them.
Thanks all , am going to a 373 gear and refresh the rest ( It has a 259 in it now ) not getting it . Well I called and talked to a few shops around here and they were , well we might or I guess I can , do I have all the rebuild parts WHAT ,none acted like they wanted to do the deal or they wanted me to get the parts .. NO drop off the 93 just give me a call when it done ,no not happening around here , so going to get one sent to me rebuilt and do as I do install it myself .. Looking for a rebuilder. Thanks .. I know zip and a few others big vet suppliers have them but was trying to help out the small guy .. Those big guys have enough money ..
You might try Gary Ramadei (GTR1999). Gary is on the forum and has been rebuilding diffs for years. He specializes in C2/C3 diffs and I don't know if he does D36 units, but he is incredibly detailed, uses only quality parts and send you pics of your unit being rebuilt during the process. I've dealt with him twice on my C3 for the steering box and the diff and have had two great experiences.
What is your location? I have a guy in Indiana who has done a lot of axle work. I have a spare d36 I dont need, could have that rebuilt and sent to you.
There is a shop in Magnolia on 1488. I've seen every kind of vehicle imaginable on his lifts. Did you try him?
Nice guy and known among the Jeep guys around here. Texas Auto Gear
http://www.corvettepartsonline.net/8...erentials.html I am going to get one from these guys . I talked to them over the phone anything happening to it in three years just send it back they said we will go through it a do over .. sounds good to me and will find me the hard to find reduction gear for speed correction and install it . I don't think the price is bad either .. I tried a few shop in this area and the first thing I heard was you got a what ?? wrong answer , for me anyway .. The 373 gear to my thinking is the lest intrusive way for a little more zip . The old LT-1 runs strong and with the 373 it should have a little more get up and go . The 259 got to go .. Thanks for all the input ,for around $1500.00 all in I think will be good bang for the buck ..
Sorry, Gotta do your homework. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS GUY. I would call Tom's differentials. He will set you up with all parts necessary for the gearchange and rebuild; brearings, seals, gears, clutchpack...I have used him numerous times. Then find a local guy with all your parts and have him rebuild it. Houston must have a number of qualified differential guys to go to.

Dan's Driveline in Las Vegas. Does work for all the major performance/rod shops and even handles the C5 diff case gear swaps (which is not easy for many shops).
You can't just install a set of 3.73's in a D36 unless you want it to come apart. The problem is that in all differential the rotating force pushes the ring gear assembly backwards but since it is bolted in, it turns. With a 3.73 there is enough force to actually stretch the main caps so you end up destroying the diff. We stopped building 3.73's about 17 years ago and we only build a HD D36 which includes the rear cover that has billet block welded into it to reinforce the diff.
