Default Rear Diff Fluid

Hello, Can I use GM#88862624 in my 95? Seems I have a whine kinda noise when I do tight turns, almost sounds like the rear brakes. I replaced the fluid 8 month ago with Amsoil, but also replaced the rear rotors and pads...I'm thinking maybe apply the e-brake a little next time I drive it and see if it stops the noise. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

I had a whine on tight turns that turned out to be a wheel bearing.

The car has 19k on it, hope it's just the fluid, I bought two bottles of LS additive plus the correct GM fluid, we shall see

I am not a believer of "lifetime grease" after 20+ years.

I agree, but this car

was never driven in the rain and kept in a heated garage. But if it does need wheel bearings she'll get the Timken for sure.

I dont think the fluid change is going make it better. The AMSOIL is a better all around fluid, and if there is an issue present it won't be fixed by a fluid swap. Wheel bearing grease can certainly degrade over time regardless of storage or driving conditions.

"Never driven in the rain"? If you drove it at all, how did you avoid that?! On interstate travel I have hit many pop-up showers, but I never intentionally took her out if it threatened rain, but over the years I learned that rain does not hurt the C4 at all, and the underside of my very babied C4 looks like yours. Nice job with the silver painting. Makes her look real clean. Mine has not seen a paint can however as I prefer alum polish to a high luster and a lot of elbow grease.

Silver paint? Maybe you should use eye glasses, who the heck would paint aluminum!

I guess you think I painted these too

Replaced the diff fluid, no more noise on tight turns. Used GM 89021669 and 2 bottles 88900330.
