It's a legitimate 2.59 A4 for '91. Original could only be determined from either build sheet or label on the ECM would indicate the original code. Actually that appears to be a 'service prom' for an original that would have been AXCR9819 originally or maybe a ARYX0714 originally.

Were it original the label would have the 4 letter code and the 4 digit I mention. "SERVICE PROM' - GM SPO replacement for an original for some reason! The 16159800 appearing on the label indicates an SPO replacement

Interesting. I've had issues with logging and performance. I wonder if it's the prom.

How difficult is it to find an original prom?

I believe that is your stock bin, it has the correct part number.

I don't believe that an OE/Production label (silver foil) would display the actual part # if original. Only the AXCR9819 I'd think if production. I believe that most software/tuning show BCC info, SCAN and the most recent service info. What do you see if you inquire ARYX0714?

It might be interesting to use tis2web and the actual VIN of his car. This function went dead a few years ago for most earlier cars but it's worked recently for a few. I tried a random '91 VIN from eBay and it worked with 'options' today. If OP has either build sheet or original ECM with label it could help.

Did you try your VIN using the tis2web?

Here is a 'for sale' of what I thought would indicate an original

If a PROM were original in a '91 it would display only information from this chart. The AYRX appears there and I noticed that also your info shows a 10/90 release so anything earlier might have the ARYX but a production AXCR a 9819 on the foil label. If the OP's production is earlier than 10/90 I'd say it confirms that but ...................

Ok so interesting information. Please see pictures.
Not the original ecm.
Someone replaced it at some point before me.
This has been through a lot and I have taken the challenge of reviving it.
This is all just fun information.
The car is running great right now

Is the car a 2.59 or 2.73? You need to make appropriate choices in the TIS 2 Web? That VIN and selecting 16159800 9819 then 'information only' should display both of the PROM options I mentioned earlier in your thread.

SPO will tell you 16159800 replaces both and most current. I'd guess ECM and PROM replaced at 'one time' - that's not an unusual set of circumstances.

From that screen select 16159800 and then NEXT 'button' - there should be then an information only available to select using the on screen prompts. Then it should display only 2.59 info with both PROM ID. I've never tried using anything other than a PC.Years ago I believe that it might have only worked with IE. For several years it didn't work at all. Several months ago I had a reason to try again and it worked. You can only use buttons on the page!
