Default Recommendations for C4 (Performance custom build

I have a Corvette C4 1995 (automatic) that I am looking to completely strip down, sell old parts and replace brand new with aftermarket performance parts.

Car has had a bad life since its birth, imported in 2001, no history and has has very bad condition work done on the past so i am looking to invest ££,£££ worth of money over the years to get the car done from the ground up to finish a complete custom performance rebuild but for road use.

I am looking for some advice on ALL mechanical parts, any recommendations you may have.

Only digging i have done is looking to install a LS3 (480bhp) engine.

Please can you post with any advice, recommendations and places to buy what i am looking for, I am from Newcastle, UK.

I must advise that unfortunally i am not mechanically minded, i bought this car as a dream and also to rebuild with passion and to get some knowledge to help me in the future.

Thats not a 95...

Those wheels do look good on it though.

Its registered as a 95, thats what i mean but a bad condition work, I believe it to be a 87 at a guess but i maybe wrong. but DVLA has it marked as a Corvette C4 1995, the chassis is 95 but everything else is older, thats one of the reasons i want to go complete customer, remove all complicated history and start a new.

Those alloys i believe are from a C5, i dont like them, i will be getting rid of those also for some aftermarket ones that suit the car.

If you can afford an LS3 plug and play pkg from PACE or GMPP just do it...may need a contoller fortrans. Comes in different HP ratings. More$$ intially but long run better. LS3 is the only ls Id think about swapping for its super good.

Techinical support for what you have being limited on the UK. LS3 and ungraded transmission from a Vauxhall VXR8 would be the best option. The automatics use a smaller Dana 36 rear differential, You would want to upgrade to the larger Dana 44.

It's important to know what you intend to do with the car; street, strip, track?

I will, but it is going to be a lengthy process for how much money I intend to put into her over the years. I am going to contact Chevy GMP and see how much a new engine like that would cost in the US and get one shipped over when i am in the financial position to fork out $15,000+ in one lump sum.

It will be used for street use, but i will but wanting to put some bucket seats, 6 pin seat belt and suitable anti role bars in, mainly for safety with a bonus of looking badass.

It is an L98 230bhp 4-speed automatic, it runs well but the raidiator on her is shot and it wont pass its MOT here because previous owner disconnected all the complete handbrake system so i also need to locate all of that.

A 95 should have a LT1. You might share a picture.

It doesn't have the high mounted 3rd brake light. Wasn't that added in 1986, making the chassis an 84 or 85?. Looks like someone put the newer bumpers on the earlier car from the interior. The VIN would tell you what production year the car really is. That will be helpful if you're planning on any restoration work.

You really don't want a rollbar on the street. It might look cool, but it can split your head open if you drive without a helmet. Make the car perform and it will speak for itself. You could add a pair of tow hooks if you want to look badass and be safe.

Im not planning on restoring, The VIN number is 95, but the engine has a different VIN and isnt an LT1, I was considering getting an LT1 as they are around £1,500 with a decent amount of miles on the clock. The car has parts from vasios stages of C4 history i can tell you.

I am wanting to restore the interior to the image below just with custom bucket seats, steering wheel, sifter, some addition analog gauges and maybe even a custom steering column to show off.

(The image below is from google images)

yeah i need to do some research into my options, just want to be as safe as i can in the car since im putting a lot of performance into it, with no air bags im going to at least need something to increase my chances if the worst ever happens. I was thinking about doing a fixing point at the rear but thats where to roof section goes when you remove it so that rules that out. if it was even possible to fix there i dont know..

Could someone please send me links to all the parts i need for the handbrake, i only have the leaver but no cables or any part of it at all. I need that 100% for this country, MOT requires a hand brake.

ZIP Products https://www.zip-corvette.com/
Ecklers https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/c3-parts.html
Corvette Central https://www.corvettecentral.com/c4-84-96/

Please take a look at their catalogs to be sure you get exactly what you want and need. ZIP Products is in Virginia and has fast shipping and I use them as my primary source for both C3 and C4 parts.

I believe that all three will ship overseas so there should be no problem as long as you get the "right" parts so you fix it once and for all! You are not that far away in the U.K. so shipping should not be that bad.

If I were in England and wanted to make "serious modifications" on my Corvette. I would find a company here on the Eastern side of the United States that can do exactly what you want "modification wise" and you will end up saving more than just the boat rides for the car. There are plenty of companies that people drop off their cars and pick them up when done. I shipped My brother cars back and forth from Germany and it was not that expensive if you plan ahead. There are quality companies that would pick it up at Baltimore, Maryland and ship it home when done.

Whatever year your Corvette "is" I think it is a good Looking Corvette!

Best regards,
Chris

P.S. Welcome to the Corvette Forum! We are glad you're here! Just remember the more we know about your car the easier it will be to help you.
